Pre-wedding Shoots…

Pre-wedding photo shoots are a great way of you getting to know us before your wedding day and for you to hopefully feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

No fake or cheesy smiles – we promise!  The best photos are those which capture natural moments of laughter or happiness.

Most of us are used to taking selfies on our phones and deleting most of them, but not used to having photos taken by a photographer. A pre-wedding shoot is a great way for you to feel more confident and comfortable in front of a camera – and help you understand what to expect on your wedding day.

We can meet at your wedding venue (where possible), the park, the woods or on the beach.

While you may feel unsure about having a pre-wedding shoot, we feel it is a worthwhile investment of your time, and we promise it isn’t as scary as you may think and you might even enjoy it.

Not only do you get some lovely natural photos, but it gives us the opportunity to run through how you like to pose.  Everyone finds it difficult to smile on demand, and so it’s important you feel relaxed around us and we try to make it fun to ensure we get natural smiles and laughter.  By helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and getting to know each other, it makes everything run smoother and ensures less time is needed on the wedding day.

When do we have the pre-wedding shoot?

We can book pre-wedding shoots in at a time to suit you.  Often it is a good few months before the wedding day – but if needed, it can be as soon as a few weeks before the day.  Given that we can get particularly busy at certain times of year, we usually recommend getting something booked in well in advance – to make sure there’s plenty of time available.

Pre-wedding shoots can be booked between Monday to Friday.  If it takes place within 8 weeks of the wedding day, we’d usually also then have a final planning meeting at the same time.  The planning meeting is to run through the plans for your wedding, and go through the final timings for the day.  This includes running through what group and posed photos that you want – so that we are prepared in advance and don’t need to take time asking what you want on the day itself.

Although some couples can be nervous or reluctant to have a pre-wedding photoshoot, without exception we always get positive feedback after.

Here’s a few examples of what our couples have said:

"We would never have thought to have a pre-wedding shoot, and actually tried to avoid it as I really don’t like having my photo taken. But it really wasn’t what we expected… and was actually good fun. I did feel a little self-conscious at first but soon forgot we were even having our photos taken!"

“I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want an engagement shoot. We got some great photos that we actually used for our wedding invites. Having the chance to try different poses meant we could work out what we liked and what we weren’t so keen on – so that we got exactly what we wanted on our wedding day”.

“Emma was great and made us feel so at ease. My partner always try to shy away from having photos taken and it was the part of our wedding he really wasn’t looking forward to. But now he practically thinks he’s a model and we feel so much happier knowing what to expect on the day.”

“Our pre-wedding shoot ended up being more of a family session, as we brought our daughter and dog along with us too. Ross was really patient and great at keeping things fun so that our daughter didn’t get bored. By the time of the wedding, we already felt like we knew Ross well, and so it was just like having another friend with us on the day.”
