Kara & Daniel – Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park

As wedding photographers, we’re lucky enough to work at some incredible venues — but every so often, we photograph a wedding that feels genuinely different.  Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park in Ipswich is one of those rare wedding venues that offers something truly special.

Kara and Daniel’s wedding day was an unforgettable adventure from start to finish. If you’re looking for a venue that combines countryside charm, incredible views, amazing food, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, Jimmy’s Farm is guaranteed to deliver something you simply won’t find anywhere else.

It was a beautiful summer day in 2023 and the first wedding we photographed at Jimmy’s Farm. We got to enjoy the day unfold and see what the venue has to offer for the first time and it really didn’t disappoint.

Kara and Daniel booked two photographers and so both Emma and Ross covered the whole day. We arrived at the venue and Emma joined Kara and her bridal party who were getting the final touches to their preparation in the Hay Barn.  This is a beautiful, relaxing room with exposed beams and full of character. At the same time, Ross captured the venue set-up before joining Daniel and his groomsmen as they welcome family and friends arriving.

The guests followed a path down steps through the colourful plants and flowers to the ‘Celebration Tent’ which was nestled at the bottom of the garden in a secluded spot. To say it’s a tent really doesn’t do it justice – the giant tipi is both elegant and unique.

As Daniel and everyone waited in the Celebration Tent, the bridal party walked through the garden followed by Kara who was escorted by her Dad.  As the ceremony took place, it felt very intimate as Kara and Daniel shared their vows, with emotional tears and laughter.

Whilst everyone enjoyed reception drinks and garden games in the afternoon sun, we took the formal group photos and some fun couple portraits in the beautiful outside space. But what really made the day so special and unique for the couple and their guests followed.  Led by Kara and Daniel, the whole wedding party left the barn to enter the wildlife park, where they had exclusive access to explore the wildlife park and get up close with the animals.

Not for the fainthearted, Kara was initially met by an animal handler with a large python snake and she and Daniel took turns holding the snake and posing for photos with it around their shoulders. The next hour or two was truly unique, as guests were able to wander around the park and spend time with dozens of species of animals, birds and fish.  The newlywed couple spent the start of their married life in the tapir enclosure – feeding them and getting up close. This was a real treat for them as huge animal lovers, but also made for some great and unique wedding photos!

Before heading back for the wedding breakfast, Kara and Daniel had some light-hearted and playful fun jumping around on the giant bouncy pillows.  A wedding day can be anything a couple wants and the day was different to many weddings – in a way that was really personal and relaxed as Kara and Daniel wanted.

This was followed by the wedding reception in the 300-year old barn full of rustic charm whilst flooding in natural light.  The food was exceptional and Jimmy’s Farm prides itself on a locally sourced farm-to-fork menu – which really sets it apart as a wedding venue. As temperatures cooled and the evening drew in, it was time for the party – with music, dancing and celebration with friends in the tipi tent.  After the cutting of cake and romantic first dance, the atmosphere changed as drinks flowed and everyone let their hair down.

It really was a day to remember – and we were so honoured to get the chance to share the experience with Kara and Daniel.  We loved the experience and have been huge advocates of Jimmy’s Farm as a venue for weddings. We’re very lucky to have since been asked to be a recommend supplier at Jimmy’s Farm and look forward to photographing many more weddings there in the years to come.
