Like many wedding photographers and other suppliers, we exhibit at several wedding fairs across Essex every year.
Wedding fairs provide a great opportunity for brides and grooms to get ideas for their big day, but more importantly it enables them to meet wedding suppliers face to face. We love meeting couples who are excited about arranging their wedding. There is a wealth of information and inspiration available online and that can be a useful start for many people, but it’s no substitute for meeting and talking to people.
There are many types of wedding fairs and we have had stands at a number of different venues and size events. From a personal point of view we prefer smaller venues. We’ve had stands at big exhibition events at the Basildon Sporting Village and the Brentwood Centre, but we find them to be quite impersonal. There are so many stands and hundreds of visitors – so it often tends to be a case of collecting business cards and price lists, rather than getting to know people.
Over the last couple of years we have focussed upon smaller wedding fairs across Essex. Some of our favourites have been vintage wedding fairs at The Old Parish Rooms in Rayleigh – where we have met some fantastic brides and grooms. We are also regularly at the Holiday Inn, Southend, and will be at Highlands House in Chelmsford over the next couple of months.
The best advice we would give to anyone going planning on going to a wedding fair is to have an idea what you want to get from it before you get there. If you are looking for ideas then talk to as many people as possible… use their experience and guidance. Ask lots of questions and don’t feel like you have to decide immediately.
When choosing a wedding photographer it’s your opportunity to get an initial feel for the photographer… to see if you get on with them and feel comfortable around them. Have some questions in mind that you might want to ask:
- Have you photographed at particular a particular venue?
- What style of photography and editing do they use?
- What is included within their packages?
- Do you get copyright of the photographs taken?
- Do they have sample wedding galleries that can be seen from start to finish?
- How do they deal with bad weather and rain?
When we are at a wedding fair we hold competitions for a free engagement shoot. Why not come and speak with us and enter? If you’d like to know which wedding fairs we’ll be attending then feel to get in touch and find out where we’ll be next!
